Amnaj
Phonephrachanh believed in hard work, dedication, giving back to his community, and helping out his fellow man. Throughout his time as a
student at Texas A&M University, Amnaj Phonephrachanh, also known
as “Ott”, was an active member in PhilSA (Filipino Student Association),
AAA (Asian American Association), the Thai Student Association, VASA
(Vietnamese American Student Association), and was one of the founders of Texas
A&M’s first and only Asian-interest fraternity, Beta Tau Omega.
In the Summer of 1997, Amnaj Phonephrachanh was tragically taken
from us and as his Brothers, we remember his spirit by carrying out
his noble intentions to the Asian community. Ott’s profound actions
will forever be remembered and will continue until fruition through
the brothers of Beta Tau Omega.
The
Amnaj Phonephrachanh Memorial Scholarship was created to honor a
man who was the very example of a great friend, a strong brother, and
a courageous leader. The alumni and actives of Beta Tau Omega have come
together to establish a student scholarship to honor individuals who
best exemplify the ideals, values, and traits of Amnaj Phonephrachanh;
other true leaders of the Asian community at Texas A&M. This scholarship
will be awarded to the applicant who has contributed the most in helping
the Asian community flourish and expand, and who has best kept Amnaj’s
spirit alive.
